The beginning of this program is the project in the same name that was implemented in 1999-2000 (PHARE LINE program support). The core of the project is to assess the influence of the disability of children, then to organize sapid and interesting leisure time that could be spent together with the contemporaries- the disabled and healthy people and family members and to help the parents to nurture visually impaired children. During that time our activity was pursued in the Literature Museum of Children, in the rented rooms of the kindergarten "Silinukas".
The Netherlands funds for Central and Eastern Europe sponsored the foundation of the Leisure Time Occupation Center of the welfare society "Akiu Sviesa" and financed the renovation and readjustment of the rooms. Therefore, the Leisure Time Occupation Center was found at the end of year 2001.

The activity of Time Occupation Center:

• Leisure time programs for preteens "Savaitgalis";
• Teenager occupation club.
• Volunteers group.
• Cultural program.
• Poetry therapy program "Out of darkness to light".
