Since 1996 the wards of the welfare society "Akiu Sviesa" have had an opportunity to take part in the activity of the Studio of Plastic Portrayal. The work with blind and weak-eyed children comply with the rules of educational art therapy.

The purposes:

  • To rally an informal group of visually impaired children who are able to work and create together.
  • To develop certain skills needed for a ceramicist-potter profession.
  • To give the disabled children the opportunity to express their moods and visions, and to reveal creative ideas during ceramics and sculpture lessons.
  • To develop the imagination of the children.
  • To record and analyse the change of the artistical expression of the children.

Activity:

  • Plastic expression lessons for visually impaired children (throw, ceramics and sculpture lessons).
  • Collective creative projects of the studio members- installations, presentations of works and organization of exhibitions not only for the community but also for the wide society.
  • Creative camps "Molinukas".
  • Presentation of the achievements of the Studio of Plastic Portrayal, opportunities of the creative expression of visually impaired children and specific work methods in the CD "The Sighted Hands".
  • Records of the change of the artistical expression of the studio members.
